Update for the Evaluation and Treatment of Achilles Tendon Injuries
نویسنده
چکیده
Achilles tendinopathy is a common medical complaint. Achilles tendon injuries include acute tendinitis from overuse in two distinct anatomic areas. Acute tendinitis may turn chronic and may require surgical intervention. Achilles tendon rupture, although usually a result of trauma, may occur spontaneously. Medication including fluoroquinolone and corticosteroids can play a significant role in these spontaneous ruptures. As a result of this discovery, care must be taken when prescribing these medications. Treatment for Achilles tendon rupture is either by surgical or non-surgical intervention. Outcomes are the same for either treatment modality. *Corresponding author: Henry Heard, Assistant Clinical Professor, Mercer University, Physician Assistant Program, 3001 Mercer University Drive, Atlanta, GA 30041, Tel: 678-547-6780/678-3727717, E-mail: [email protected] Citation: Heard H (2016) Update for the Evaluation and Treatment of Achilles Tendon Injuries. The Healing Effects of Aquatic Activities and Allogenic Injection of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) on Injuries of Achilles Tendon in Experimental Rat
BACKGROUND Clinical tendon injuries represent serious and unresolved issues of the case on how the injured tendons could be improved based on natural structure and mechanical strength. The aim of this studies the effect of aquatic activities and alogenic platelet rich plasma (PRP) injection in healing Achilles tendons of rats. METHODS Forty rats were randomly divided into 5 equal groups. Se...

BACKGROUND The platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and hyaluronic acid (HA) constitute a system of tissue growth that can regenerate damaged tissue. This study was performed to evaluate the effect of PRP and HA in treatment of complications of Achilles tendon reconstruction. METHODS We selected ten patients affected by Achilles tendon injuries resulting from post-surgical complications subseque...

Background: Delayed tendon healing and tendon adhesions are still found to be among the complications that occur most often after tendon repair. Pistacia khinjuk is one of the three species of Pistacia growing in Iran. Objective: In this study, the role of local injection of ethanolic extract of P. khinjuk was evaluated in healing of the experimental Achilles tendon injury in rabbits. Metho...
متن کاملEffects of Short Term Oral Administration of Curcumin on Achilles Tendon Healing in Rats
Objective- Tendon healing, in terms of histologic and functional characteristics, is always inferior to its normal level due to the poor vascularity and low metabolic rate. Curcumin possesses anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and healing effects. This study aimed to investigate effects of curcumin on Achilles tendon experimental injury using histopathology, biomechanical and functional evaluation...
